Raced the masters 30+ 3/4 race and the masters 45+ 1/2/3/4 back-to-back on Saturday. We left Fresno in the rain, arrived in Folsom to cloudy skies and wet roads, but by the time the racing began the sun had begun to appear.

Master's races for my category are usually 4/5, but this cat 3/4 race gave me the opportunity to race alongside teammates Lutz Braun and Matt Dearing. The Folsom course basically only has 2 corners and a very long sweeping turn on the backside, which made for some fast speeds. Lutz tenderized the pack with a barrage of attacks, I went with Lutz in one breakaway to try and help him stay away, but the group caught us, probably because it was too early in the race. Lutz went on to punish everyone some more, winning 2 prime laps in a row.

As we neared the end, Matt positioned himself in the front and won the race in a sprint! Lutz and I finished close behind, around 12th and 15th?

I started in the next race (45+ 1/2/3/4s) 10 minutes later, managed to survive and finish in the high teens I think.

Later, Lutz and Matt went on to race in the Elite 3. . . .

Matt, great vid. I thought that we were all the way to the right down the homestretch, but you finished left of chico corsa. I was short of oxygen anyhow, so who knows.

Also, you can observe the victorious not-so-jersey-shore fist pump in honor of your win as I roll across the line.

Good stuff. Repeat at Dinuba???
